Boricua!
Feet hitting the ground as the earth supports my every step
The damp, warm tropical air unties my lungs from mans concrete cage
Freed from the shackles of mockery and judgement

It rings through my ears like a message from my ancestors long past
Closing my eyes waiting for the islands call
The darkness holds me loike Atabey would hold her twin sons

What a beautiful sound
Boricua
A drum with an ever changing rhythm
Boricua
Strong and Resiient
Boricua
Enchanting
The blood rushing thourgh my veins
Boricua
The child of the Tainos, Africa and Spain
Boricua
we will never be owned because we are our own
